Grande Prairie adds 20 new COVID-19 cases, 28 recoveries

The City of Grande Prairie added 20 new cases of COVID-19 and 28 recoveries for Wednesday, October 27, bringing the active case total in the city down to 180.

In the County of Grande Prairie, there were four new cases and 17 recoveries recorded on Wednesday, leaving that region with 84 active cases.

As a whole, Alberta added 531 new cases following the completion of approximately 10,200 tests, resulting in a ~5.4 per cent positivity rate.

Active case totals, as of October 27 among Peace Region municipalities, are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 180 active (-8)
  • County of Grande Prairie: 84 active (-13)
  • MD of Greenview: 18 active (-3)
  • Birch Hills County: six active (-)
  • MD of Spirit River: five active (-1)
  • Saddle Hills County: 13 active (-)
  • MD of Peace: 60 active (-)
  • MD of Fairview: 16 active (-)
  • MD of Smoky River: seven active (-2)
  • Big Lakes County: 92 active (-)
  • Clear Hills County: five active (-)
  • County of Northern Lights: nine active (-1)
  • Northern Sunrise County: nine active (-6)

Across the province, hospitalizations decreased by 31 to 779, while the number of ICU patients went up by one to 185.

Of those admitted to intensive care with COVID-19, 146 are unvaccinated, 14 are partially vaccinated, and 25 are fully vaccinated.

In the North Zone, there are 105 people in the hospital (down two), while 10 people are in the ICU (unchanged).

There were 12 deaths from COVID-19 reported to Alberta Health over the last 24 hours, bringing the provincial death toll to 3,085.

In Grande Prairie, 71.6 per cent of people who are eligible have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine (59.4 per cent of the total population), while 63.2 per cent of the eligible population has been fully vaccinated (52.5 per cent of the total population).

In Alberta, 86.8 per cent of eligible Albertans aged 12 and older have received at least one dose of the vaccine, while 79.6 per cent of those eligible are fully vaccinated.
