Grande Prairie records 12 new COVID-19 cases, 12 recoveries

The City of Grande Prairie added 12 new cases of COVID-19 and 12 recoveries for Thursday, October 28, keeping the active case total in the city at to 180.

In the County of Grande Prairie, there were six new cases and seven recoveries recorded on Thursday, bringing the active case total there down to 83.

As a whole, Alberta added 603 new cases following the completion of approximately 10,500 tests, resulting in a ~5.7 per cent positivity rate.

Active case totals, as of October 28 among Peace Region municipalities, are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 180 active (-)
  • County of Grande Prairie: 83 active (-1)
  • MD of Greenview: 21 active (+3)
  • Birch Hills County: six active (-)
  • MD of Spirit River: four active (-1)
  • Saddle Hills County: 13 active (-)
  • MD of Peace: 59 active (-1)
  • MD of Fairview: 13 active (-3)
  • MD of Smoky River: seven active (-)
  • Big Lakes County: 84 active (-8)
  • Clear Hills County: five active (-)
  • County of Northern Lights: nine active (-)
  • Northern Sunrise County: six active (-3)

Across the province, hospitalizations decreased by 14 to 765, while the number of ICU patients went down by five to 180.

Of those admitted to intensive care with COVID-19, 145 are unvaccinated, 11 are partially vaccinated, and 24 are fully vaccinated.

In the North Zone, there are 107 people in the hospital (up two), while 10 people are in the ICU (unchanged).

There were eight deaths from COVID-19 reported to Alberta Health over the last 24 hours, bringing the provincial death toll to 3,093.

In Grande Prairie, 71.8 per cent of people who are eligible have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine (59.5 per cent of the total population), while 63.5 per cent of the eligible population has been fully vaccinated (52.7 per cent of the total population).

In Alberta, 86.9 per cent of eligible Albertans aged 12 and older have received at least one dose of the vaccine, while 79.8 per cent of those eligible are fully vaccinated.
