Dana McIntosh to serve as PWPSD board chair

A new board chair has been elected for the Peace Wapiti Public School Division.

At its Organizational Meeting on Thursday, board members elected Ward 9 Trustee Dana McIntosh to serve as Chair, while Ward 3 Trustee Lori Grant was elected as Vice-Chair.

McIntosh has served on the PWPSD board for the last 17 years and represents the region that includes Clairmont and Bezanson.

“Throughout her years of service, she has sat on more than 20 PWPSD committees, and five other committees, including acting as the rural schools representative for Crime Prevention, and a member of the Teaching and Lifelong Learning Committee,” said the division, in a release. “She has received many awards for her dedication and hard work both as an employee and as a volunteer.”

In taking on her new role, McIntosh says it will be important for the board to make decisions that factor in all of the geographically and demographically diverse division they serve, which stretches from Grovedale to Saddle Hills County and Hythe to Ridgevalley.

The 2021-2025 PWPSD Board of Trustees is made up of four newcomers and five incumbents, which are as follows:

• Ward 3 (Beaverlodge, Elmworth): Lori Grant – Vice-Chair
