University scientists looking to bring drug manufacturing plant to Edmonton
EDMONTON – University scientists and drug developers in Edmonton are creating what they say will be Canada’s first facility to take the latest scientific pharmaceutical insights from the lab to the marketplace.
The partnership brings together the University of Alberta’s renowned Li Ka Shing Institute of Virology with Advanced Pharmaceutical Innovation, which manufactures drugs for companies to take to clinical trials.
Andrew MacIsaac heads the not-for-profit company.
He says it’s the first time in Canada a leading research group has paired up with a company capable of taking early research to market.
