Grande Prairie records one COVID-19 death, eight new cases

The City of Grande Prairie added eight new cases of COVID-19, seven recoveries and one death for Friday’s update, bringing the active case total in the Swan City down to 133.

The death was one of five reported to Alberta Health over the last 24 hours and was a female in her 80s.

The fatality is the 52nd recorded in the city since March of 2020, and the 21st since September 1, 2021.

In the County of Grande Prairie, there were six new cases and two recoveries recorded Thursday, bringing the active case total to 55.

As a whole, Alberta added 466 new cases following the completion of 11,495 tests, resulting in a 4.2 per cent positivity rate.

Active case totals, as of November 4 among Peace Region municipalities, are as follows:

Across the province, hospitalizations dropped by 17 to 660, while the number of ICU patients went down by five to 141.

Of those admitted to intensive care with COVID-19, 115 are unvaccinated and 17 are fully vaccinated.

In the North Zone, 102 people are in hospital (up three), while nine people are in the ICU (up one).

In Grande Prairie, 72.4 per cent of people who are eligible have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine (60 per cent of the total population), while 65 per cent of the eligible population has been fully vaccinated (53.9 per cent of the total population).

In Alberta, 87.3 per cent of eligible Albertans aged 12 and older have received at least one dose of the vaccine, while 80.9 per cent of those eligible are fully vaccinated.
