COVID-19 fatality recorded in County of Grande Prairie, 19 new cases in City

The City of Grande Prairie added 19 new cases of COVID-19 and 33 recoveries between Friday and Sunday, bringing the active case total in the Swan City down to 119.

In the County of Grande Prairie, there were 13 new cases, 13 recoveries and one death reported over the weekend, bringing the active case total to 54.

The death in the County was one of 13 reported to Alberta Health over the weekend, bringing the provincial death toll to 3,155. There have been 11 deaths attributed to COVID-19 in the county, along with 52 in the City of Grande Prairie since March, 2020.

As a whole, Alberta added 1,300 new cases following the completion of nearly 26,000 tests, resulting in a 5 per cent positivity rate.

Active case totals, as of November 7 among Peace Region municipalities, are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 119 active (-14)
  • County of Grande Prairie: 54 active (-1)
  • MD of Greenview: 16 active (-1)
  • Birch Hills County: three active (+1)
  • MD of Spirit River: five active (-1)
  • Saddle Hills County: eight active (-4)
  • MD of Peace: 32 active (+8)
  • MD of Fairview: seven active (-1)
  • MD of Smoky River: five active (+1)
  • Big Lakes County: 58 active (-5)
  • Clear Hills County: four active (-1)
  • County of Northern Lights: 11 active (+1)
  • Northern Sunrise County: five active (-)
  • Mackenzie County: 138 active (-3)

Across the province, hospitalizations dropped by 52 to 608, while the number of ICU patients went down by six to 135.

Of those admitted into intensive care with COVID-19, 108 are unvaccinated and 17 are fully vaccinated.

In the North Zone, 91 people are in hospital (down 11), while eight people are in the ICU (down one).

In Grande Prairie, 72.6 per cent of people who are eligible have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine (60.2 per cent of the total population), while 65.6 per cent of the eligible population has been fully vaccinated (54.4 per cent of the total population).

In Alberta, 87.5 per cent of eligible Albertans aged 12 and older have received at least one dose of the vaccine, while 81.2 per cent of those eligible are fully vaccinated.
