Grande Prairie records nine new COVID-19 cases, 15 recoveries

The City of Grande Prairie added nine new cases of COVID-19 and 15 recoveries for Tuesday, November 9, bringing the active case total in the Swan City down to 110.

In the County of Grande Prairie, there were seven new cases and four recoveries reported for Monday, bringing the active case total to 58.

As a whole, Alberta added 484 new cases following the completion of 11,161 tests, resulting in a 4.3 per cent positivity rate.

Active case totals, as of November 9 among Peace Region municipalities, are as follows:

  • MD of Spirit River: four active (-1)

Across the province, hospitalizations saw a decrease of 26, with 582 people in hospital, while the number of ICU patients went down by five to 123.

Of those admitted into intensive care with COVID-19, 98 are unvaccinated and 18 are fully vaccinated.

In the North Zone, 88 people are in hospital (down two), while seven people are in the ICU (down one).

Five deaths from COVID-19 were reported to Alberta Health over the last 24 hours, raising the provincial death toll to 3,164.

In Grande Prairie, 72.7 per cent of people who are eligible have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine (60.3 per cent of the total population), while 65.9 per cent of the eligible population has been fully vaccinated (54.7 per cent of the total population).

In Alberta, 87.6 per cent of eligible Albertans aged 12 and older have received at least one dose of the vaccine, while 81.5 per cent of those eligible are fully vaccinated.
