Hockey, basketball, volleyball from the weekend of Nov. 12-14

Grande Prairie Storm split home stand

The Storm split their two weekend games at home, winning 2-1 over Canmore Friday before dropping a 3-2 decision to Camrose in a shootout Saturday.

Next up for the Storm is a weekend doubleheader in Bonnyville Friday and Saturday. Both those games will start at 7 p.m.

The Storm now sit with a record of 5-15-5, good enough for eighth place in the AJHL North Division.

NWJHL round-up

Northwest Junior Hockey League from Sunday saw the County Kings win 3-2 over Fairview and Sexsmith beat Dawson Creek 4-1.

On Friday, it was Dawson Creek over Fairview 10-3, the County Kings over Peace River 5-2 and Fort St. John edging Sexsmith 3-2.

The next NWJHL games will be on Friday, November 18 with Fort St. John at the County Kings, Peace River in Fairview and Sexsmith in Dawson Creek. All three start at 8 p.m.

Saturday, Fairview is in Sexsmith for a 6 p.m. start, the Kings are in Peace River and Dawson Creek in Fort St. John both start at 8 p.m.

Mixed results for GPRC Wolves basketball, volleyball teams

The GPRC Wolves men’s basketball team split its two games on the opening weekend of the season.

They lost 93-81 on the road against Augustana before returning home to win 75-69 over the Vikings on Sunday.

Women’s basketball lost both of its games with Augustana, 80-42 on Friday and 84-59 Sunday.

The Wolves volleyball teams also opened their seasons over the weekend, also against Augustana.

The women lost 3-0 at home Friday and 3-0 on the road Sunday.

Men’s volleyball also lost 3-0 at home Friday before winning 3-1 in Camrose Sunday.

The basketball teams are home this coming weekend against Concordia University of Edmonton. Volleyball will visit Concordia.
