Grande Prairie adds three new COVID-19 cases, nine recoveries

The City of Grande Prairie added three new cases of COVID-19 and nine recoveries for Tuesday, November 16, bringing the active case total in the Swan City down to 119.

In the County of Grande Prairie, there were five new cases and three recoveries recorded Tuesday, bringing the active case total there, to 74.

As a whole, Alberta added 412 new cases on Tuesday, following the completion of approximately 9,736 tests. Those tests had a 4.2 per cent positivity rate.

Active case totals, as of November 16 among Peace Region municipalities, are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 119 active (-6)
  • County of Grande Prairie: 74 active (+2)
  • MD of Greenview: 11 active (-)
  • Birch Hills County: three active (-)
  • MD of Spirit River: zero active (-1)
  • Saddle Hills County: eight active (-)
  • MD of Peace: 25 active (-)
  • MD of Fairview: four active (-)
  • MD of Smoky River: five active (+1)
  • Big Lakes County: 36 active (-3)
  • Clear Hills County: one active (-1)
  • County of Northern Lights: 12 active (+1)
  • Northern Sunrise County: 11 active (-)

Across the province, hospitalizations declined by two to 516, with 100 of those patients in the ICU, a decrease of one from the day prior.

Of those admitted into intensive care with COVID-19, 77 are unvaccinated and 16 are fully vaccinated.

In the North Zone, 69 people are in hospital (down one), while six people are in the ICU (down one).

There were three deaths reported to Alberta Health over the last 24 hours, bringing the provincial death toll to 3,204.

In Grande Prairie, 73.2 per cent of people who are eligible have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine (60.7 per cent of the total population), while 67 per cent of the eligible population has been fully vaccinated (55.6 per cent of the total population).

In Alberta, 88 per cent of eligible Albertans aged 12 and older have received at least one dose of the vaccine, while 82.4 per cent of those eligible are fully vaccinated.
