Grande Prairie records 15 new COVID-19 cases, nine recoveries

The City of Grande Prairie added 15 new cases of COVID-19 and nine recoveries for Wednesday, November 17, bringing the active case total in the Swan City back up to 125.

In the County of Grande Prairie, there were 11 new cases and two recoveries Wednesday, bringing the active case total there to 83.

As a whole, Alberta added 383 new cases following the completion of approximately 8,948 tests. Those tests had a 4.3 per cent positivity rate.

Active case totals, as of November 17 among Peace Region municipalities, are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 125 active (+6)
  • County of Grande Prairie: 83 active (+9)
  • MD of Greenview: 10 active (-1)
  • Birch Hills County: three active (-)
  • MD of Spirit River: zero active (-1)
  • Saddle Hills County: seven active (-1)
  • MD of Peace: 26 active (+1)
  • MD of Fairview: six active (+2)
  • MD of Smoky River: four active (-1)
  • Big Lakes County: 31 active (-5)
  • Clear Hills County: one active (-)
  • County of Northern Lights: 12 active (-)
  • Northern Sunrise County: 11 active (-)
  • Mackenzie County: 46 active (-7)

Across the province, hospitalizations declined by 18 to 498, with 94 of those patients in the ICU, a decrease of six from the day prior.

In the North Zone, 63 people are in hospital (down six), while six people are in the ICU (unchanged).

There were five deaths reported to Alberta Health over the last 24 hours, bringing the provincial death toll to 3,209.

In Grande Prairie, 73.3 per cent of people who are eligible have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine (60.8 per cent of the total population), while 67.2 per cent of the eligible population has been fully vaccinated (55.7 per cent of the total population).

In Alberta, 88.2 per cent of eligible Albertans aged 12 and older have received at least one dose of the vaccine, while 82.7 per cent of those eligible are fully vaccinated.
