Grande Prairie adds nine new COVID-19 cases, four recoveries

The City of Grande Prairie added nine new cases of COVID-19 and four recoveries for Thursday, November 18, bringing the active case total in the Swan City up to 130.

In the County of Grande Prairie, there were four new cases and six recoveries Thursday, bringing the active case total there to 81.

As a whole, Alberta added 412 new cases following the completion of approximately 8,673 tests. Those tests had a 4.8 per cent positivity rate.

Active case totals, as of November 18 among Peace Region municipalities, are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 130 active (+5)
  • County of Grande Prairie: 81 active (-2)
  • MD of Greenview: 10 active (-)
  • Birch Hills County: two active (-)
  • MD of Spirit River: one active (+1)
  • Saddle Hills County: five active (-2)
  • MD of Peace: 26 active (-)
  • MD of Fairview: six active (-)
  • MD of Smoky River: five active (+1)
  • Big Lakes County: 29 active (-2)
  • Clear Hills County: one active (-)
  • County of Northern Lights: 11 active (-1)
  • Northern Sunrise County: 18 active (=7)
  • Mackenzie County: 42 active (-4)

Across the province, hospitalizations declined by two to 496, with 93 of those patients in the ICU, a decrease of one from the day prior.

In the North Zone, 68 people are in hospital (up five), while seven people are in the ICU (up one).

There were two deaths reported to Alberta Health over the last 24 hours, bringing the provincial death toll to 3,211.

In Grande Prairie, 73.4 per cent of people who are eligible have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine (60.9 per cent of the total population), while 67.3 per cent of the eligible population has been fully vaccinated (55.8 per cent of the total population).

In Alberta, 88.2 per cent of eligible Albertans aged 12 and older have received at least one dose of the vaccine, while 82.8 per cent of those eligible are fully vaccinated.
