Nov 22, 2021 | 8:37 AM

St. Joseph Catholic High School and Sexsmith Secondary School are both heading to Commonwealth Stadium this coming weekend to play in the Football Alberta high school provincial championship game.

St. Joe’s punched their ticket to the provincial championship following a dominant 65-33 victory over Leduc in the Tier II North championship at CKC Field on Saturday.

The Celtics are ranked as the top seed in all of Tier II and have yet to lose a game so far this season. They last won the Tier II provincial championship in 2014.

Meantime, the Sexsmith Sabres advanced to the provincial final with a 39-0 win over Ardrossan in the Tier IV North championship, also held at the CKC Field last Saturday.

Sexsmith is also ranked as the top team in Tier IV. According to records dating back to 1999, the school has never won the Tier IV provincial championship.

St. Joe’s will face the Holy Trinity Academy Knights from Okotoks on Friday, November 26 at 7:00 p.m. at Commonwealth Stadium in the Tier II championship game.

Sexsmith will play against W.R. Myers from Taber in the Tier IV championship game at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 27 also at Commonwealth Stadium
