High Prairie man charged with first degree murder in Sucker Creek death
A High Prairie man has been charged with first degree murder in relation to a suspicious death investigation in Sucker Creek First Nation last week.
This comes after Lakeshore Regional Police and High Prairie RCMP were called out in the early morning hours of Nov. 19 to a reported assault with a weapon at a home in that community, where a 35-year-old man was found dead at the scene.
It was then at around 5:30 p.m. that same day 40-year-old Travis Myles Melnyk was taken into custody, who has been charged with first degree murder and forcible confinement.
Melynk was remanded into custody following a judicial interim release hearing and was to appear in High Prairie Provincial Court Monday morning.
