Province to donate surplus PPE to non-profits, private health providers
An array of organizations in Alberta can apply to receive free personal protective equipment (PPE) from the provincial government.
The Alberta Emergency Management Agency (AEMA) has been giving our surplus PPE to the healthcare sector throughout the COVID-19 pandemic and will continue to do so, but they are now expanding that.
While maintaining its own 60-day stockpile of PPE, they will be giving out hand sanitizer, medical and non-medical face masks, and disinfectant solutions.
“Alberta’s government is committed to public safety,” says Minister of Municipal Affairs Ric McIver. “We have extra stores of PPE and we do not want to see them wasted, so we are sharing them with Alberta businesses and non-profit groups to support their operations. This is one more thing we can do to help Albertans protect themselves and their families as we continue to respond to COVID-19.”
