Grande Prairie adds five new COVID-19 cases, 22 recoveries

The City of Grande Prairie added five new cases of COVID-19 and 22 recoveries for Wednesday, November 24, bringing the active case total in the Swan City down to 103.

In the County of Grande Prairie, there were six new cases and eight recoveries Wednesday, lowering the active case total there to 79.

As a whole, Alberta added 379 new cases on Wednesday, following completion of 9,604 tests. Those tests resulted in a ~3.9 per cent positivity rate.

Active case totals, as of November 24 among Peace Region municipalities, are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 103 active (-17)
  • County of Grande Prairie: 79 active (-2)
  • MD of Greenview: seven active (-2)
  • Birch Hills County: zero active (-)
  • MD of Spirit River: four active (-)
  • Saddle Hills County: four active (-)
  • MD of Peace: 15 active (-2)
  • MD of Fairview: four active (-)
  • MD of Smoky River: four active (-1)
  • Big Lakes County: 10 active (-3)
  • Clear Hills County: zero active (-)
  • County of Northern Lights: 12 active (-)
  • Northern Sunrise County: 12 active (-1)

Across the province, hospitalizations decreased by five to 465, with 98 of those patients in the ICU, an increase of one from the day prior.

Of those in intensive care, 77 are unvaccinated and 13 are fully vaccinated.

In the North Zone, 64 people are in hospital (unchanged), while eight people are in the ICU (unchanged).

There was one death reported to Alberta Health over the last 24 hours, bringing the provincial death toll to 3,232.

In Grande Prairie, 73.8 per cent of people who are eligible have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine (61.2 per cent of the total population), while 68.2 per cent of the eligible population has been fully vaccinated (56.5 per cent of the total population).

In Alberta, 88.5 per cent of eligible Albertans aged 12 and older have received at least one dose of the vaccine, while 83.5 per cent of those eligible are fully vaccinated.
