Alberta health officials monitoring Omicron variant situation

Nov 29, 2021 | 9:36 AM

Alberta’s chief medical officer of health says public health officials have contacted people who’ve travelled from one of the southern African countries of interest for the Omicron COVID-19 variant in the past 14 days.

Dr. Deena Hinshaw made the statement in a series of tweets yesterday, immediately following news that Ontario detected Canada’s first two known cases of Omicron on Sunday

Hinshaw didn’t specify how many travellers in Alberta have been contacted, but said they must quarantine for 14 days from their return date and get tested.

She said there were no confirmed cases in Alberta.
