Peace Region artists up for CCMA awards

The Canadian Country Music Association hands out its major annual awards in London, Ontario Monday evening and two artists from the Peace Region are nominated for some of the hardware.

Grande Prairie’s Tenille Townes, and La Crete’s High Valley both have three nominations each.

Townes is up for female artist of the year and album of the year, while High Valley is nominated for single of the year and duo or group of the year.

Both are also among the nominees for the Fans’ Choice Award.

Meanwhile, Spirit River’s Aaron Goodvin was nominated for both interactive artist of the year and songwriter of the year.

Those awards were handed out during a gala event Sunday night, and unfortunately, Goodvin did not pick up either award.
