Grande Prairie records two COVID-19 deaths, 14 recoveries

The City of Grande Prairie recorded two COVID-19 deaths for Monday, November 29.

The deaths reported to Alberta Health over the last 24 hours included a male in his 20s and a female in her 50s. Both cases included pre-existing conditions and were the only deaths reported in the North Zone.

The deaths were two of six reported over the last 24 hours, bringing the provincial death toll to 3,248.

The City of Grande Prairie added just one new case of COVID-19 and 14 recoveries for November 29, bringing the active case total in the Swan City down to 73.

In the County of Grande Prairie, there were four new cases and 11 recoveries recorded, dropping the active case total there to 85.

As a whole, Alberta added 238 new cases over the last 24 hours, following the completion of 5,400 tests. Those tests resulted in a 4.5 per cent positivity rate. There are 4,545 active cases in the province.

Across the province, hospitalizations grew by two to 434, with 81 of those patients in the ICU. Of those in the hospital, 226 are unvaccinated.

In the North Zone, 57 people are in hospital (up one), while seven people are in the ICU (up one).

In Grande Prairie, 61.2 per cent of the total population has received one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, while 57 per cent of the eligible population has been fully vaccinated.

NOTE: With COVID-19 vaccines now available to children five and older, it has caused the percentage of eligible vaccinated individuals to drop. So far, 61.7 per cent of children aged five and older have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

In Alberta, 88.8 per cent of eligible Albertans aged 12 and older have received at least one dose of the vaccine, while 83.9 per cent of those eligible are fully vaccinated.
