Grande Prairie adds eight new COVID-19 cases, four recoveries

The City of Grande Prairie added eight new cases along with four recoveries for November 30, bringing the active case total in the Sawn City up slightly by four to 77.

In the County Of Grande Prairie, there were five new cases and six recoveries identified, there are 84 active cases in that region.

Across the province, Alberta added 430 new cases on the completion of 10,800 tests, resulting in a 4.1 per cent test positivity rate. There are 4,619 active cases in the province.

There were also two new cases of the Omicron variant. Alberta Health did not say where the cases were located due to privacy.

Active case totals, as of November 30 among Peace Region municipalities, are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 77 active (+4)
  • County of Grande Prairie: 84 active (-1)
  • MD of Greenview: 10 active (+1)
  • Birch Hills County: one active (-)
  • MD of Spirit River: five active (+1)
  • Saddle Hills County: four active (+3)
  • MD of Peace: ten active (+2)
  • MD of Fairview: one active (-)
  • MD of Smoky River: six active (-1)
  • Big Lakes County: eight active (-1)
  • Clear Hills County: one active (+1)
  • County of Northern Lights: nine active (-)
  • Northern Sunrise County: 2 active (-)
  • Mackenzie County: 57 active (-3)

Across the province, hospitalizations dropped by ten to 424, with 79 of those patients in the ICU. Of those in the hospital, 213 are unvaccinated.

In the North Zone, 59 people are in hospital, eight of which are in the ICU.

There were seven new deaths reported, bringing the total number of deaths in Alberta from COVID-19 to 3,255.

In Grande Prairie, 67 per cent of the eligible population has received one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, while 61.8 per cent of the eligible population has been fully vaccinated.

In Alberta, 88.8 per cent of eligible Albertans aged 12 and older have received at least one dose of the vaccine, while 84.1 per cent of those eligible are fully vaccinated.
