Grande Prairie adds two new COVID-19 cases, 11 recoveries

The City of Grande Prairie added two new cases along with 11 recoveries for December 1, bringing the active case total in the Sawn City down by nine to 68.

In the County Of Grande Prairie, there were five new cases and five recoveries identified, 84 active cases remain in that region (same).

Across the province, Alberta added 366 new cases on the completion of 9,465 tests, resulting in a 3.87 per cent test positivity rate. There are 4,539 active cases in the province.

Active case totals, as of December 1 among Peace Region municipalities, are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 68 active (-9)
  • County of Grande Prairie: 84 active (-)
  • MD of Greenview: 9 active (-1)
  • Birch Hills County: one active (-)
  • MD of Spirit River: four active (-1)
  • Saddle Hills County: five active (+1)
  • MD of Peace: eight active (-2)
  • MD of Fairview: zero active (-1)
  • MD of Smoky River: six active (-)
  • Big Lakes County: seven active (-1)
  • Clear Hills County: one active (-)
  • County of Northern Lights: ten active (+1)
  • Northern Sunrise County: 2 active (-)
  • Mackenzie County: 47 active (-10)

Across the province, hospitalizations dropped by five to 419, with 76 of those patients in the ICU. Of those in the hospital, 212 are unvaccinated.

In the North Zone, 59 people are in hospital (same), six of whom are in the ICU (down two).

Two deaths were reported as a result of COVID-19, bringing the provinces COVID-19 death toll to 3,257.

In Grande Prairie, 67.2 per cent of eligible Albertans (ages five and older) have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, while 61.9 per cent of those residents have been fully vaccinated.

In Alberta, 88.9 per cent of eligible Albertans aged 12 and older have received at least one dose of the vaccine, while 84.1 per cent of those eligible are fully vaccinated.
