Chamber of Commerce elects new board members, executive during annual general meeting

Grande Prairie and District Chamber of Commerce held their annual general meeting on Thursday.

The event saw the election of a new board of directors and executive.

Tertius Genis (Fusion Business Solutions) was elected as the Chamber’s new board chair, while Cindy Park (Minhas Brothers) was picked as first vice-chair and Cord Spero (ReMax Grande Prairie) was tapped as second vice-chair.

Larry Gibson remains on the executive as past chair.

Returning to the board of directors for another term were Jon Anderson (ATB Financial), Jason Howrish (International Paper), Pamela Nordin (London Hauling), and Karci Wallan (MNP).

Laura LaValley of the Community Foundation of Northwestern Alberta was selected to the Chamber board for a first term.

They join a board of directors that already includes Ken Loudon (Grande Prairie Regional Tourism Association), Jason Petrone (Maddhatters), Lori Pollock (KMSC Law), and Barry Yaehne (Community Futures Grande Prairie & Region).

The Chamber also handed out their annual member awards during the meeting.

The Salvation Army of Grande Prairie and the Grande Prairie Friendship Centre shared the Business Citizen of the year award.

Judy Hein claimed the Clem E. Collins Chamber volunteer award.

And the Dan H. Minchin award for long-time member business achievement was presented to Royal LePage – the Realty Group.
