Provincial government looking for Albertans to weigh in on Budget 2022

Dec 3, 2021 | 1:01 PM

The Alberta government is asking for Albertans to weigh in on what they think the 2022 budget should include.

After more than a year of economic challenges, the province is expected to lead Canada in growth.

The 2022 edition of the budget will be used as an opportunity to improve the province’s finances.

In a release, the government says in addition to attracting investment, controlling spending, and putting a check on the amount of debt being left to future generations, they also want to hear from all Albertans regarding their priorities for their families, businesses and communities.

“The budget decisions the government makes now will help cement our province’s economic and fiscal recovery and lead to a more stable and prosperous future for all Albertans,” said Minister of Finance and Grande Prairie-Wapiti MLA Travis Toews.

“I’m looking forward to working with individuals across the province as we renew our focus on supporting jobs and growth while also searching for new ways to ensure our core programs and services are efficient and sustainable over the long term.”

Albertans can share their views and ideas for the next budget by filling out an online survey and joining telephone town halls with Finance Minister Travis Toews at the province’s website.

Businesses, municipalities, industry associations and other groups can also send budget submissions on behalf of their organizations.
