ARC Resources donates $25K to Salvation Army Kettle Campaign

Dec 7, 2021 | 5:18 PM

ARC Resources in Grande Prairie has donated $25,000 towards the Grande Prairie Salvation Army’s Kettle Campaign.

Captain Peter Kim with the Grande Prairie Salvation Army says this generous donation from ARC helps bring the Salvation Army one step closer to its fundraising goal of $575,000.

“This makes a huge boost to our fundraising goal, and really helps the families who are in need and just I was so excited to hear this,” explained Kim.

“This is our biggest campaign season for fundraising of the year, and we were running really low compared to last year at this time.”

The annual campaign typically lasts six weeks and is an opportunity for the organization to raise money to help support its food bank. The money raised over the course of the campaign usually helps supply the food bank with food for the entire year.

Kim tells EverythingGP he was over the moon when he got the call about the donation from ARC Resources.

“I was saying ‘wow if other companies could do that, that would be awesome,’” he said. “But ARC came first and did this ginormous donation and it’s really exciting.”

On behalf of ARC Resources, Field Operations Manager Terry Harder says they are happy to help the food bank with this donation, especially with the support the Salvation Army provides to residents in Grande Prairie throughout the year.

“The Salvation Army provides a lot of critical support to the community, but it’s none more important than this time of year. So, so again, we’re really happy to be able to provide a donation of this magnitude,” added Harder.

“If this can help people, not worry about the cost of providing a meal and maybe bring a little Christmas or holiday joy to their family. That’s even more important.”

The Salvation Army is still looking for volunteers to help out at the kettles located at various areas in the city. Kettle shifts run from Monday to Saturday 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. / 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. as well as 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Residents wanting to donate to the Salvation Army can do so in several different ways including online, dropping them off at the Salvation Army, mailing in donations, or simply tapping their debit or credit cards at the kettles.

Donations can also be made at Pattison Media’s 98.9 Rewind Radio Stuff-A-Bus for the Salvation Army Food bank Christmas hampers from now through to Sunday, December 12, including, non-perishable food, hygiene items, cash, and cheques. Those donations will then be given to the Salvation Army on Monday morning.

Stuff-A-Bus will be at Canadian Tire on Friday from 3-8 p.m. and Freson Bros. Saturday and Sunday 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Grande Prairie Storm will be helping Pattison Media unload the City of Grande Prairie transit bus, in its decorated Stuff-A-Bus wrap.
