Looking for Donations

Apex Well Servicing seeking donations for Golden Age Centre

Dec 9, 2021 | 3:31 PM

Apex Well Servicing in Grande Prairie is looking for donations to help support the Golden Age Centre.

With the last couple of years being difficult on many individuals due to the pandemic, Brandon Patriquin with Apex Well Servicing says they decided it was time to give back to the heart of the community, seniors.

“I think the seniors kind of get forgotten. So with the economy turning around and everything going well at Apex, we figured it was time for us to give back to the community and think about the seniors and see if we can help them out and make their Christmas a little more memorable.”

Patriquin explains their 7 Days to Christmas Campaign kicked off on December 8, after seeing the Golden Age Community Centre had been struggling and looking for help.

“Especially going forward since there are a non-profit organization and a lot of seniors go there, so we thought they would be a good candidate to help out this season,” he added.

“They have been trying to get some grants and have not been getting much luck, and I don’t think people would like to see it shut down.”

For their campaign, Patriquin says they have been reaching out to businesses in the community for monetary donations to help the Golden Age Centre pay bills.

“All of the cash will go towards the power bill, gas bill, anything they need to keep the building afloat.”

In addition, Patriquin says they are looking for donations of small gifts that seniors would enjoy, such as gloves, mittens, or toques.

He says the plan is to wrap the donated items and gift them to the seniors at the Golden Age Centre Christmas Dinner on December 15.

“Once the seniors were done eating, we were going to surprise them and do a little Christmas and make it a little more special for them,” he added.

“I was talking to Linda (Golden Age Centre Executive Director), and she says it’s been hard for the seniors over the last couple of years with the pandemic, and more so the ones that don’t have family or anybody around it’s probably a really hard time for them.”

Patriquin tells EverythingGP the community support so far has been extremely heartwarming.

“Heather from Walmart, she and her team had stepped up and made a pretty good donation. Us at APEX have put $1,000 in to help them out, KMSC Law Firm did a $500 cash donation, Pines Restaurant and Casino had made a donation and Safeway Southside had made a donation,” he said.

“It’s pretty amazing support when you reach out and let people know the scenario.”

“It’s amazing what the community can do when you all come together, and you know APEX is a pretty large organization in the area and we work with lots of people and communities, and it’s good to give back to where you’re laying your hat at,” added Brandon.

Apex Well Servicing is still looking for donations to support the Golden Age Community Centre up until December 15.
