Grande Prairie adds three new COVID-19 cases, five recoveries

The City of Grande Prairie recorded five recoveries and three new cases of COVID-19 for December 8, bringing the active case total in the Swan City down to 51.

In the County Of Grande Prairie, the active case total went down by four. It now has 50.

Across the province, Alberta added 333 new cases on the completion of 10,044 tests, resulting in a 3.3 per cent test positivity rate. There are 4,094 active cases in the province.

Active case totals, as of December 8 among Peace Region municipalities, are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 51 active (-2)
  • County of Grande Prairie: 50 active (-4)
  • MD of Greenview: five active (-1)
  • Birch Hills County: zero active (-1)
  • MD of Spirit River: three active (-)
  • Saddle Hills County: five active (-)
  • MD of Peace: 10 active (-)
  • MD of Fairview: one active (-)
  • MD of Smoky River: three active (-)
  • Big Lakes County: seven active (-1)
  • Clear Hills County: one active (-)
  • County of Northern Lights: four active (-)
  • Northern Sunrise County: three active (-2)
  • Mackenzie County: 28 active (-2)

Across the province, hospitalizations sit at 368 (down five), with 70 of those patients in the ICU (up two).

Of those in the hospital, 175 are unvaccinated, while in the ICU, 52 of the 70 patients are unvaccinated.

In the North Zone, 43 people are in hospital (down two), four of whom are in the ICU (up two).

In Grande Prairie, 67.9 per cent of those eligible (ages five and older) have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, while 62.4 per cent of those residents have been fully vaccinated.

In Alberta, 89.1 per cent of eligible Albertans aged 12 and older have received at least one dose of the vaccine, while 84.6 per cent of those eligible are fully vaccinated.
