Charges laid after weapons theft-related busts in Grimshaw

The seizure of numerous stolen weapons after a total of five search warrants which were executed in Grimshaw over recent weeks has led to charges being laid against four people.

Police executed two search warrants on November 23rd and 24th, where they located several weapons and around $20,000 worth of stolen firefighting equipment.

Tywon Larose, 18-years-old, faces a total of 16 charges, including two counts each of break and enter, theft over five thousand dollars, possession of property obtained by crime over five thousand, as well as theft of a motor vehicle and several weapons offences.

Larose also faces two counts of breaking and entering, one count of robbery to steal a firearm, and five counts of failing to comply with a release order.

A 15-year-old male youth also faces three possession of weapons-related charges in relation to this matter.

Then on December 1st, three more search warrants were executed on residences and a storage locker, where a further five stolen firearms were recovered.

Eight people were originally arrested, but only two were charged.

45-year-old Chad Richard faces a total of nine charges, including theft of a motor vehicle, theft over five thousand dollars, break enter and stealing firearms, as well as several possession of firearms-related offences, and three counts of possession of a controlled substance.

47-year-old Leanna Morgan faces three counts of possession of a controlled substance and two counts of failing to comply.

Richard and Larose are both being held in custody, while Morgan was released on bail. The 15-year-old male was released from custody.

Richard is due back in Peace River court on December 13, while Morgan, Larose, and the youth all have January 10 court dates.
