Grande Prairie records two COVID-19 recoveries, one new case

The City of Grande Prairie recorded one new case of COVID-19 along with two recoveries, for December 9, bringing the active case total in the Swan City down one to 50.

In the County Of Grande Prairie, there was one new case and 11 recoveries reported, bringing the active case total in that region to 40.

Across the province, Alberta added 287 new cases on the completion of 9,139 tests, resulting in a 3.14 per cent test positivity rate. There are 4,059 active cases in the province.

Active case totals, as of December 9 among Peace Region municipalities, are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 50 active (-1)
  • County of Grande Prairie: 40 active (-10)
  • MD of Greenview: four active (-1)
  • Birch Hills County: zero active (-1)
  • MD of Spirit River: three active (-)
  • Saddle Hills County: five active (-)
  • MD of Peace: 10 active (-)
  • MD of Fairview: one active (-)
  • MD of Smoky River: three active (-)
  • Big Lakes County: seven active (-)
  • Clear Hills County: one active (-)
  • County of Northern Lights: four active (-1)
  • Northern Sunrise County: five active (+2)

Across the province, hospitalizations sit at 367 (down one), with 71 of those patients in the ICU (up one). Of those in the hospital, 174 are unvaccinated, while in the ICU, 52 of the 71 patients are unvaccinated.

In the North Zone, 43 people are in hospital (same), four of whom are in the ICU (same).

In Grande Prairie, 68 per cent of those eligible (ages five and older) have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, while 62.5 per cent of those residents have been fully vaccinated.

In Alberta, 89.2 per cent of eligible Albertans aged 12 and older have received at least one dose of the vaccine, while 84.7 per cent of those eligible are fully vaccinated.
