Dec 10, 2021 | 1:30 PM

La Glace’s Reis Nyland was selected 166th in the 2021 Western Hockey League Draft on Thursday afternoon by the Prince George Cougars.

Nyland is a forward and is currently playing for the Northern Alberta Xtreme (NAX) U16 Prep team in Edmonton.

The 15-year-old is 5’11” and weighs 166 pounds. So far in the 2021-22 season, Nyland has recorded 16 points in 16 games for this team.

Prior to joining NAX, Nyland played two seasons of U15 AAA hockey with the GPAC Storm.

Nyland was originally supposed to be draft-eligible in early 2020, however, the WHL pushed its draft back because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

He will join Grande Prairie native Zackary Shantz as a prospect of the Cougars.
