McLennan ED to be without physicians for 24-48 hours next week

Alberta Health Services (AHS) says the Sacred Heart Community Health Centre emergency department (ED) will be without on-site physician coverage for 24 hours starting at 7 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 13.

Normal operations will return on Tuesday, December 14 at 7:00 a.m., however, AHS adds the ED will also be without on-site physician coverage for 48 hours starting at 7 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 15. Regular operations will resume December 17 at 7 a.m.

During the period where physicians will not be on-site, nurses will still be available at the ED providing care for inpatients, with one local physician in the community. Patients are asked to call 911 if they have a medical emergency.

All EMS calls during this time will be re-routed to the High Prairie Health Complex.
