Charges upgraded against Alberta man accused of killing mother and son: RCMP

HINTON, Alta. – Police have upgraded charges against a man accused in the deaths of a 24-year-old mother and her 16-month-old son in west-central Alberta.

RCMP say Robert Major, who is 53, now faces two counts of first-degree murder and two counts of indignity to human remains.

Major was originally charged with two counts of second-degree murder and one count of indignity to human remains.

RCMP said the woman, Mchale Busch, and her son, Noah McConnell, died Sept. 16 a day before they were reported missing.

Their bodies were discovered Sept. 17 in Major’s apartment in Hinton, Alta., about 290 kilometres west of Edmonton.

RCMP says Major’s next court appearance is set for Wednesday in Hinton provincial court.
