Helping Hands of Grande Prairie looking for final push of donations ahead of Christmas hamper delivery

Dec 17, 2021 | 1:59 PM

Helping Hands of Grande Prairie says it is in need of donations for the holiday season.

The non-profit organization creates food hampers each year for families in need.

Founder of Helping Hands Jennifer Farquhar says they can use various different items.

“Right now our biggest need is going to be things body care kits for teens and adults, socks, mittens and toques to help keep them warm. And maybe some items like bedding sheets, that kind of stuff,” she explained.

Farquhar is hopeful they can send over 250 hampers to those in need. She adds they want to send out all of the hampers by this Sunday.

“Our original cutoff was December 17, we are hoping to be done by Sunday and not run all the way until Christmas Eve.”

Currently, Helping Hands will not be accepting applications because of such a high demand in the hampers.

Donations can be made by visiting the Helping Hands of Grande Prairie Facebook page or by dropping them off at Bowling Stones, Denny’s, Grande Prairie Auto Repair or today until 5 p.m. on December 17, or December 18 from 9 a.m. – 8 p.m. at 7811 110 Street.
