County crews begin snow removal Monday

County of Grande Prairie residential snow removal crews are beginning work in residential neighborhoods, starting in Hythe and in Clairmont between 116 Avenue and 100 Avenue,

The County says temporary parking restrictions will be in effect from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. in those areas.

Crews are expected to move into Westlake Estates and Whispering Ridge subdivisions Tuesday morning. This will then be followed by snow clearing in Wedgewood, Taylor Estates, and Maple Ridge.

Administration says digital “No Parking” signage will be placed at the entrance to the neighborhoods to be cleared.

Vehicles left on the street when a parking restriction is in place may be ticketed and/or towed, the County warns.

“When the digital “No Parking” signs at the entrance to these areas are visible, temporary parking restrictions are in place and street parking is not permitted between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m,” add County officials.

The County also reminds residents that piling snow onto roads is illegal and could result in a $100 fine, as it slows the snow clearing process and creates a traffic safety hazard.
