Snowfall Warning

Environment Canada issues snowfall warning

Dec 21, 2021 | 5:12 PM

UPDATE: The snowfall warning issued for the Grande Prairie area has ended.

Environment Canada has issued a snowfall warning for the Grande Prairie-Beaverlodge-Valleyview forecast area.

The weather office says heavy snowfall for parts of western Alberta is expected Wednesday. A long period of snowfall is expected to bring up to 25 centimetres of accumulated snow.

Environment Canada officials say the heaviest snow is forecasted to fall Wednesday and Wednesday night, with 10 to 20 centimetres expected.

The Hinton-Grande Cache and Whitecourt-Edson-Fox Creek-Swan Hills forecast areas are also under similar warnings.

“Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions. Rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations,” added Environment Canada officials.

The snow is forecasted to taper off from the northwest during the day Thursday.
