Grande Prairie weapon trafficking investigation results in two people arrested and charged

A weapons trafficking investigation this December in Grande Prairie has resulted in two residents being arrested and charged.

On December 8, the Alberta Law Enforcement Response Teams (ALERT) along with Combined Enforcement Special Enforcement Unit (CFSEU) say they obtained a search warrant for a residence in Grande Prairie.

During their search, along with the assistance of the Grande Prairie RCMP, crews were able to locate two handguns and magazines, a semi-automatic rifle, prohibited magazines, a prohibited shotgun, and various shotgun and rifle ammunition were allegedly seized.

As a result, 26-year-old Chase Coady and 29-year-old Joseph Hollis, are being charged on several counts.

Chace Coady has been charged with:

  • Possession of a firearm in an unauthorized place (x2)
  • Weapons trafficking (x4)

Joseph Hollis has been charged with:

  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm (x4)
  • Possession of a prohibited device (x2)
  • Possession of a loaded prohibited weapon
  • Unsafe storage of a firearm

According to authorities, Coady has been released and is set to appear in Grande Prairie Provincial Court on February 28, 2022. Hollis has also been released and is scheduled to attend Grande Prairie Provincial Court on February 22.
