GPRC adopting mandatory vaccine policy, temporarily shifting most courses online

Dec 29, 2021 | 12:56 PM

Grande Prairie Regional College (GPRC) will be introducing a mandatory vaccination policy starting January 3, along with a temporary shift to online classes for most courses starting January 4.

The statement from GPRC follows the Alberta government’s plans to introduce new restrictions on December 24, due to the uptick in COVID-19 cases across the province due to the Omicron variant.

GPRC says although most courses will be delivered remotely from January 4 to 21, certain courses will still have mandatory on-campus requirements.

This means anyone intending to come on campus for any reason must be fully vaccinated or have an approved exemption starting January 3, 2022.

GPRC officials say this difficult decision was made for a couple of reasons including in an effort to protect the health and safety of all students, staff, and community members accessing the college.

GPRC’s new vaccination and shift to online learning is in alignment with most post-secondary schools in Alberta.

An updated proof of vaccination policy from GPRC can be found here.

Starting March 2022, GPRC will be known as Northwestern Polytechnic.
