Indoor cricket league returning to Grande Prairie

Dec 29, 2021 | 12:05 PM

Registration is now open for an indoor cricket league in Grande Prairie.

President of the Grande Prairie Cricket Association Vejay Parmar says youth and adults roughly 15 or older are welcome to join the league.

“Anyone who is able to play cricket can play, it doesn’t matter how old they are, so maybe someone 13 or 14 can play but most of our members would be adults, young adults, or youth 15 and above.”

Typically, Parmar tells EverythingGP they have four teams play in the league which kicks off January 1.

“Teams play round-robin matches with each other, two rounds of matches, and then finals sometime in April,” he added.

“Cricket is typically played outdoors. But these last few years we have been playing indoor cricket, which is a lot of fun and it’s good exercise and good cardio,” added Parmar.

He says games go every Sunday from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Leisure Centre from January 9 until sometime in April.

Registration is $100 for the season.
