County residential snow removal continuing despite cold weather

Jan 4, 2022 | 12:20 PM

County of Grande Prairie crews resumed snow removal work Tuesday morning and are set to continue while temperatures remain above minus 35.

The County said in a release, crews began snow removal in Hythe as well as collecting windrows in Clairmont starting from 116 Avenue toward 100 Avenue.

The county states parking restrictions are in place when digital “No Parking” signs are placed at the entrances of residential areas being cleared.

“When the signs are lit, temporary parking restrictions are in place, and street parking is not permitted between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m.”

These residential areas with parking restrictions include the Hamlet of Hythe, the subdivisions of Wedgewood, Maple Ridge and Taylor Estates, as well as Whispering Ridge, Westlake Estates, and 116 Ave to 100 Ave in the Hamlet of Clairmont.

Any vehicles left on the street while a parking restriction is in place could potentially be ticketed and/or towed.

The county reminds residents that piling snow onto roadways is illegal and could result in a $100 fine, as it slows the snow clearing process and creates a traffic safety hazard.
