TIPPs error update

City provides update on TIPPs withdrawal error

Jan 7, 2022 | 3:10 PM

The City of Grande Prairie says it is continuing to try and fix a TIPPs withdrawal error that occurred on New Year’s Eve.

Due to an unexpected error back on New Year’s Eve, some TIPPs tax payments may have been withdrawn twice from users’ accounts.

After a week of trying to resolve the situation, the city says it has worked with its banking partners to resolve the issue and minimize the impact. This by expediting a reversal of the double withdrawal, issuing refunds where needed, and ensuring any NSF charges incurred as a result of this error has or will be reimbursed for impacted residents.

Additionally, all city-generated NSF charges for the month of December are being waived.

Over the next several days, city officials say the Assessment and Taxation department will reach out to those who’ve been impacted to ensure any additional NSF bank fees charged to a residents bank account from the double tax payment are reimbursed.

Administration says it has taken steps to ensure this issue never happens again.
