Grande North Winter Festival viewed as success

Jan 18, 2022 | 2:14 PM

The City of Grande Prairie says the first-ever Grande North Winter Festival was a success.

In a release, the city says downtown Grande Prairie was busy from January 14-16.

The Bonnetts Energy Centre had over 2,000 ticketed guests attend the Ice Gardens, which featured the ice carving competition, an ice bar, Dark Flavour snowboarding pump track a Grande Prairie Storm game, along with live music from local performers.

The Montrose Cultural Centre had over 5,000 guests check out the ice slide, skating and programing from the Art Gallery of Grande Prairie and the Grande Prairie Public Library.

At Muskoseepi Park saw 1,800 guests experience the Peace Draft Club horse and wagon rides, along with skating on the pond and taffy-making from the Francophone Association of Grande Prairie.

The City of Grande Prairie thanks the community for their support and says they play on doing again next year.
