Over $23,000 donated to Bandaged Paws in inaugural Betty White Challenge

Jan 18, 2022 | 10:26 PM

Bandaged Paws says it received $23,495.21 in donations since Monday from what is being called the ‘Betty White Challenge’.

Betty White passed away on December 31, 2021 at the age of 99. She was a huge lover of animals.

Following her death, her fans around the world decided to create the ‘Betty White Challenge’. The challenge would commence on January 17. White would have turned 100 on January 17, so her fans created the challenge to honour her.

“These last two days have been more than we ever could have imagined!! We received donations from just over 500 individuals raising a total of $23,495.21 (and counting!),” said Bandaged Paws in a Facebook post.

With the exciting news, the organization says the donations has given them the ability to plant a long overdue seed in the area. They will be starting a Spay & Neuter Assistance Program for the residents of City & County of Grande Prairie.

Bandaged Paws will be putting $10,000 into the creation of this program, which will directly help cats and dogs in our area in need of spay/neuters.

“This is something much needed in our area and something we have been dreaming about for years to be able to do for our community,” Bandaged Paws adds.

“Not only will this help pet owners, but it will blossom into helping our rescue by minimizing the amount of unwanted litter, which reduces the number of animals needing to be surrendered so we can focus our efforts on helping more homeless and abandoned animals.”

EverythingGP has reached out to Bandaged Paws for more information on the donations and the new Spay & Neuter Assistance Program.
