The Alberta government has announced it will be allocating $6.1 million in federal funding towards municipalities in the Grande Prairie region to support rural infrastructure upgrades throughout Grande Prairie-Wapiti.

The $6.1 million in funding from the Canada Community-Building Fund, is in an effort to help build and revitalize local infrastructure and create lasting prosperity.

“Our government has been hard at work to ensure Alberta’s Recovery Plan benefits Albertans in a holistic and efficient manner. This funding will improve confidence in our roadways today, allowing our communities to safely enjoy outdoor recreation, and will support investment for our future by providing confidence in reliable transportation infrastructure,” said Grande Prairie MLA Tracy Allard.

The City of Grande Prairie, County of Grande Prairie, Town of Sexsmith, and Hamlet of Hythe will be receiving funding from the Canada Community-Building Fund.

  • City of Grande Prairie: $4,360,000 has been allocated towards replacing 4.10 kilometres of sidewalks pathways replacing the twin bridge culvert on Range Road 53, and rehabilitating three intersections in the city.

“These projects are not only an improvement to our quality of life today, but are an investment into our province’s future.”
