County urging motorists to use caution while on gravel roads

Jan 24, 2022 | 12:21 PM

The County of Grande Prairie is urging motorists to drive with caution while travelling on gravel roads over the next several days.

With a recent rapid shift in temperatures leading to repeated freeze and thaw cycles, gravel roads across the region have become very icy. Vehicles weighing over one tonne are recommended to carry tire chains with them if they are travelling on gravel roads.

Public Works crews are out and blading the gravel roads in the region this week.

The County adds travellers are also asked to reduce speed on the roads and keep a fair distance between vehicles.
