From January 28-30 everyone across Canada is encouraged to purchase their limited edition #ChooseToInclude donuts from Tim Hortons.

The promotion will see 100 per cent of its proceeds go to support Special Olympics athletes across Canada and right here locally in Grande Prairie.

The #ChooseToInclude partnership with Tim Hortons and Special Olympics Canada recognizes the importance of ensuring people are included and recognized for what they can do instead of what they can’t.

Special Olympics Assistant Coach Jennifer Melom says this partnership is a main driver for its athletes in the Grande Prairie area.

“It gets our athletes into our community and for lots of them, that is their recreation and social time, so being able to be a part of something is really important for them,” Melom explained. “Each affiliate does see proceeds which in turn helps us to be able to offer sports that our community offers.”

Melom adds they are always looking for people wanting to help Special Olympics in our community.

“Special Olympics Grande Prairie is always looking for volunteers, donations, anything to get involved in our communities,” she said. “We are always looking for coaches and people to get the word out there to get more athletes involved, to get out there, get active and that social aspect.”

Special Olympics Alberta-Grande Prairie Athlete Savannah Lussier competes in many sports including curling, golf, swimming, and 5-pin bowling, asks encourages everyone to get their #ChooseToInclude donuts this weekend.
