3 Montreal high school basketball coaches charged with sex crimes involving minors

Feb 3, 2022 | 3:30 PM

Montreal police say they are looking for other possible victims after three coaches at a St-Laurent borough high school were arrested this week on sex crime charges.

The three staffers from École Saint-Laurent appeared today at the Montreal courthouse and face charges involving two women who were minors at the time of the alleged offences.

Daniel Lacasse, 43, is charged with sexual exploitation; Charles-Xavier Boislard, 43, faces several charges, including sexual assault; and Robert Luu, 31, is also charged with sexual assault and with other criminal violations.

Police say in a statement the three suspects were involved with sports teams, notably the girl’s basketball team, and that the alleged crimes took place between 2008 and 2017.

Investigators say that since the three men are linked to sports teams involving underage girls, there could be other possible victims.

In a separate statement, the Marguerite-Bourgeoys school board says the three men did not have criminal records and have been suspended. The board says school authorities are co-operating with police.
