68th avenue in Grande Prairie reopened following Friday morning train derailment

Traffic is moving once again along 68th avenue in the southeast end of Grande Prairie, following a train derailment early Friday morning.

The derailment occurred before 8 am, and briefly closed traffic in both directions on the stretch of 68th avenue between Resources Road and 92nd street.

CN crews were brought in and had the roadway re-opened by around 9:30 am.

They continue to clean up cars in that area, with no word on when that work will be completed.

No injuries were reported, and RCMP say no dangerous goods were spilled as a result of the derailment.
