Grande Prairie records 33 new COVID-19 cases, 30 recoveries

The City of Grande Prairie recorded 33 new COVID-19 cases and 30 recoveries for February 3, there are 462 active cases in the city (up three).

The County of Grande Prairie added 12 new cases of COVID-19 over the past 24 hours, along with 20 recoveries, there are 175 active cases in that region (down eight).

Across Alberta, 2,086 new cases were identified from 6,226 tests, resulting in a test positivity rate of 33.5 per cent. There are currently 32,711 active cases in the province.

Provincial officials say with the rollout of rapid tests to most households, the actual number of new COVID-19 infections in the province is likely higher than what is being reported.

Active case totals, as of February 3 among Peace Region municipalities, are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 462 active (+3)
  • County of Grande Prairie: 175 active (-8)
  • MD of Greenview: 93 active (+8)
  • Birch Hills County: two active (-)
  • MD of Spirit River: 17 active (-)
  • Saddle Hills County: two active (-)
  • MD of Peace: 101 active (+10)
  • MD of Fairview: 24 active (-2)
  • MD of Smoky River: 54 active (+5)
  • Big Lakes County: 89 active (+10)
  • Clear Hills County: five active (+1)
  • County of Northern Lights: 14 active (+2)
  • Northern Sunrise County: 24 active (+6)
  • Mackenzie County: 61 active (-1)

The province saw hospitalizations remain stable at 1,584, while ICU patients increased by six to 118. Of those in the hospital, 391 are unvaccinated, while in the ICU, 59 of the 118 patients are unvaccinated.

In the North Zone, 114 people are in hospital (up 12), eight of whom are in the ICU (up two).

There were 26 COVID-19 related deaths reported to Alberta Health over the last 24 hours. To date, 3,634 Albertans have died as a result of COVID-19.

To date, 89.9 per cent of eligible Albertans aged 12 and older have received at least one dose of the vaccine, while 86.1 per cent of those eligible have received at least two doses.
