Dust control applications open in County of Grande Prairie

Feb 8, 2022 | 1:23 PM

Residents and business owners in the County of Grande Prairie can apply to have dust suppressants applied to the gravel road in front of their property until April 29.

The annual dust control program has crews apply calcium chloride or spec crude oil to minimize dust on County gravel roads. County residents can apply for dust control on the gravel road in front of their residence, rural subdivision, and business.

Costs are shared between the County of Grande Prairie and property owners, however, administration says fees vary depending on the type of suppressant used, length of application and residential or commercial use.

Dust control work will begin once spring road bans are lifted, and Public Works crews have staked the locations where dust control will be applied.

County property owners and business owners can apply for dust control online or in person.

A video with step-by-step instructions on the online application process for dust control has been made available for residents this year.

“The online form uses an innovative mapping tool that allows applicants to specify precisely where along the gravel road dust control is requested, improving accuracy,” said the County in a release.

Those who still wish to apply for dust control in person can visit the County Public Works Building located at 10001-84 Avenue in Clairmont during regular business hours, Monday to Friday between 8:30 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
