Prichard, Watson win Football Alberta Coach of the Year awards

Feb 9, 2022 | 5:37 PM

Two Mighty Peace Football League coaches have been given awards by Football Alberta.

St. Joe’s Celtics coach Trevor Prichard has been named the Tier II High School Coach of the Year and has been given the Norm Kimball Coach of the Year awards. The second award is an overall Coach of the Year award for all categories.

Prichard led the Celtics to an unbeaten season and their second provincial championship.

Football Alberta also says Prichard does “exemplary work” with the defensive staff of the provincial U18 team, something he has done for almost seven years.

Sexsmith Sabres coach James Watson is the Tier IV High School Coach of the Year.

Watson also led his team to a provincial championship and their only two losses of 2021 came against the unbeaten Celtics.

Football Alberta calls Watson a “fantastic coach and mentor” who keeps a program at a small school thriving.
