Grande Prairie records 40 COVID-19 recoveries, 10 new cases

The City of Grande Prairie added 40 recoveries and 10 new COVID-19 cases for Monday, February 14. There are now 342 active cases in the city.

In the County of Grande Prairie, there were 18 recoveries and six new cases identified. It now has 122 active cases.

Across Alberta, 838 new cases were identified from 2,499 tests, resulting in a test positivity rate of 33.5 per cent. There are currently 19,050 active cases in the province.

Provincial officials say with the rollout of rapid tests to most households, the actual number of new COVID-19 infections in the province is likely higher than what is being reported.

Active case totals, as of February 14 among Peace Region municipalities, are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 342 active (-30)
  • County of Grande Prairie: 122 active (-17)
  • MD of Greenview: 67 active (-6)
  • Birch Hills County: two active (-)
  • MD of Spirit River: 11 active (+1)
  • Saddle Hills County: three active (-)
  • MD of Peace: 112 active (+11)
  • MD of Fairview: 54 active (-)
  • MD of Smoky River: 68 active (+1)
  • Big Lakes County: 105 active (+1)
  • Clear Hills County: five active (+1)
  • County of Northern Lights: 19 active (-)
  • Northern Sunrise County: 14 active (-2)
  • Mackenzie County: 84 active (-2)

The province saw hospitalizations increase by 10 patients to 1,538, while 123 of those patients are in the ICU (down one). Of those in the hospital, 404 are unvaccinated, while in the ICU, 54 of the 123 patients are unvaccinated.

In the North Zone, 125 people are in hospital (same), seven of whom are in the ICU (down one).

There were 14 COVID-19 related deaths reported over the last 24 hours, bringing the provinces COVID-19 death toll to 3,790.

So far, 90 per cent of eligible Albertans aged 12 and older have received at least one dose of the vaccine, while 86.4 per cent of those eligible have received at least two doses.
