GPCSD to expand French immersion learning to include O’Brien Lake West & École St-Gérard

Grande Prairie & District Catholic Schools (GPCSD) says it will be expanding French immersion learning to O’Brien Lake West and École St-Gérard schools.
The district says this will include Pre-K to Grade 8 for the 2022-23 year and Pre-K to Grade 9 for the 2023-24 school year.
In a release, the GPCSD says growth within the French immersion program has resulted in the need to include it at more of its facilities.
The district says the board made the decision following an extensive review of French immersion programs focusing on current school capacity and future growth projections. It adds there was also support from community members found in an online engagement survey.
